Instructions to the elementary teacher

in charge of production

You will need to assign a particular student to each of the following positions:

  1. Bank Teller
  2. Prosecutor
  3. Assistant Prosecutor
  4. Defense Attorney
  5. Assistant Defense Attorney
  6. Friend of Johnny
  7. Bridgeport Observer
  8. First Classmate
  9. Second Classmate
  10. Storekeeper
  11. Cousin
  12. Johnny Smith, the defendant.

All other students will be the jury; we, therefore, have complete participation by all students.

The facts of the case should be distributed to these twelve individuals at least five days prior to the actual trial. They are to thoroughly familiarize themselves with the facts, but they are absolutely not to memorize anything. Additionally, you may let them know that they are free to be creative, spontaneous and even vary the facts slightly. They are not to discuss in advance of the trial, the facts, their status or anything else with the jurors.
