Fregiato takes his courtroom directly into each Belmont County high school for "live" court
sessions each year. "This "live" court program, believed to be the first and only one of its kind in the
country, has helped to make certain our students understand that there are consequences for their
actions," Fregiato said. "I think the results have been very positive." This is now considered by
Fregiato as a permanent program of his Court. He and his program were profiled in a statewide
publication in July of 1998 and a National publication in 2003.
As WTRF-TV 7 has stated "mock judicial proceedings in our schools are not new. For years,
students have been exposed to the judicial system through mock trials, lectures or observing trials
at the court house. But Belmont County Judge Frank Fregiato has taken the idea to it's highest
level, the real thing. . . Fregiato takes his courtroom to the schools and conducts court
proceedings in front of the students, both criminal and civil. . . Fregiato believes the real thing
makes more of an impression on young minds than a lecture. He plans to take his courtroom to
every high school in Belmont County. We commend and applaud him for his ambitious effort."
